Frequently Asked
Questions
A: Freestone peaches are harvested around July 1st through the end of the summer.
A: Take them out of the box and let them ripen on the counter in a single layer. Once they’re soft to the touch and at peak sweetness, move them to the refrigerator to keep them fresh a few days longer.
A: Peach varieties typically last around 14 days. Check our our "Peaches" page to see when the different varieties are available. Please note that harvest dates are dependent upon weather and other environmental factors.
A: At McLeod Farms, we are not a certified organic farm, but we are deeply committed to growing safe, high-quality produce you can trust.
We follow the safest agricultural practices, guided by expert recommendations from Agri-Technologies, Inc. and Clemson University. To protect our crops, we use specific applications to carefully manage pests and weeds, always prioritizing safety and sustainability.
Our farm is PrimusGFS certified, meaning we meet—and exceed—USDA requirements by strictly following WPS/EPA guidelines.
Every step we take is with your family in mind. We’re proud to provide produce that is fresh, safe, and grown with care for generations to enjoy.
A: Yes, we do! While peaches are our family’s signature fruit, we grow a wide variety of seasonal produce. In the spring, you’ll find fresh strawberries. Summer brings blackberries, sweet corn, and okra. In the fall, we harvest grapes and peas, and in the winter, we offer hearty vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and collard greens. There’s always something fresh and delicious to enjoy from our farm year-round!

A: Located right beside our Roadside Market on Hwy 151, Big’s Meats & More is a local favorite! They serve a delicious daily lunch special and are well-known for their burgers and hand-cut fries.
Please note: Big’s Meats & More is a separate business from McLeod Farms (though still part of the family!) They operate under different business hours than our market.
For menus, hours, and more information, visit their website: Big's Meats & More
A: We sometimes get asked about the difference between McLeod Farms and Mac’s Pride—and the answer is simple: we’re the same company!
McLeod Farms is our family farm name.
Mac’s Pride is the brand name we use to sell and distribute our peaches.
So whether you see McLeod Farms or Mac’s Pride, you can be assured it’s the same family, the same farm, and the same tradition of quality peaches you know and love.
